About Me

I am in my final year of studying computer science and journalism at Northeastern University. Originally from New York City, I have spent most of my life on Cape Cod, reading books, riding my bicycle, and acting.

I am interested in software, in what it can accomplish and what it can't, how it functions, why it sometimes doesn't, and when it simply isn't the answer at all.

Interests

I like to program; I like it for the same reason I like solving puzzles—the pursuit of elegant, efficient solutions.

When I am not near a computer, you should look for me on a bike. Whether I am tackling steep climbs on my road bike or playing in traffic on my fixed-gear around Boston, cycling is how I encounter new boundaries; on a bike, I learn how to push past them.

I also challenge new boundaries in writing. As sophisticated as computers are, the foundation of communication is writing. I take pleasure in working and reworking a sentence, choosing the correct words and their order to best express what is on my mind.

Fun

Despite a lack of formal training, I consider myself a student of design. I believe that even the simplest every-day items require careful thought if they are to be accepted by those who use them. My appreciation for good, innovative industrial design is surpassed only by the satisfaction I get from using a well designed object. Typography is another passion of mine. It may sound strange that I list the design of objects and even communiqués under the category of fun; but here they are. Design is a form of recreation for me, recreation and frequently frustration.
